Our Mission Statement

The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment helps to build and improve communities that are beautiful, long lasting and healthy for people and the planet.

It is possible to have the kind of community and neighbourhood we all admire when we go on holiday -

• Lively, interesting high streets with a mix of local shops and quality brands.
• Streets and neighbourhoods that reflect local character and feel safe to walk along.
• Parks, schools and shops within walking distance of our homes.
• Homes that look like they belong, that reflect tradition but are also contemporary and comfortable inside.

The Prince's Foundation helps to make this vision a reality through projects, research and education.

We help make places that people want to live in, both by improving existing communities and buildings and by helping plan, design and build new ones.

We teach developers, planners, designers and crafts people how to build well, with lasting value and we try to ensure that our communities are financially viable, reflect local character, improve the natural environment and are built well and beautifully.
