Removing the roadblocks: Highways, hierarchy and shared surfaces
Based in Scotland in the City of Perth, this event looked at how sustainable low carbon communities based on linked walkable neighbourhoods, mixed uses and compact urbanism, should be intimately linked to the design, construction and maintenance of roads and streets.

Architectural Visit to Kensington Palace
Following a competition in 2008, John Simpson, the architect who designed the new Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, was engaged to make vital improvements to Kensington Palace, notably an inviting new entrance. John Simpson outlined his work during the tour, together with Ben Bolgar, Director of Design Theory and Networks from The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment. Unique access was also given to the Palace and Royal Dress Collection. [ More Info ]

The Prince of Wales gives the annual lecture at the headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London, for it's 175th anniversary year. This followed the presentation by HM The Queen of the Royal Gold Medal to Álvaro Siza - only the fourth time in her reign that The Queen has presented the medal personally.[ More Info ]
